Description: This layer contains the limit and extent of Northern Australia as defined by the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility Act 2016 (https://www.legislation.gov.au/Details/C2016A00041). The definition of Northern Australia is made with reference to the Australian Bureau of Statistics’ medium sized areas (Statistical Area level 2) and Local Government Areas. These boundaries include (in full and/or in part): (i) the Northern Territory, Queensland and Western Australia; (ii) a select Statistical Area level 2 (SA2) in relation to Tropic of Capricorn; (iii) LGA of Meekatharra and Wiluna; and (iv) the territorial sea adjacent to areas covered by these boundaries. The definition of these boundaries is updated from time to time as new data becomes available.
